Earthing calculation and Earthing layout drawings are extremely important component of a Substation design. It checks whether the step and touch voltages generated during flow of earth fault current is limited to tolerable values and also checks whether the resistance of the underground earthing network is less than 1 ohm with respect to surrounding Earth. Low earth resistance enables return current of the earth fault and safe operation of the earth fault protective devices.
