Description

Sag & Tension calculation of the transmission line is an essential design activity to determine the longitudinal tension along the conductor at minimum and maximum temperatures. The tension is so selected that the sag in conductor is within the permissible value. The calculation is done either by PLS CAD software or by MS excel on the basis of conductor parameters, wind and ice loading, tower spans and crossing with other transmission or distribution overhead lines.
