A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is an advanced technological solution that stores electrical energy in rechargeable batteries for later use. BESS plays a critical role in modern power systems by improving grid reliability, integrating renewable energy sources, enhancing power quality, and supporting energy management applications.
With increasing penetration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which are intermittent in nature, battery storage systems have become an essential component of the electrical power sector.
A typical Battery Energy Storage System consists of the following major components:
1. Battery Modules and Battery Packs.
2. Battery Management System (BMS).
3. Power Conversion System (PCS).
4. Energy Management System (EMS).
5. Thermal Management System.
6. EHV switchyard or GIS for grid integration of the BESS.
Satcon has the capacity to deliver the design and drawings of BESS along with EHV switchyard or GIS for integration with the Grid substation. Satcon's design and drawings are being used by many customers in India and outside India for their BESS projects since 2022.
