Power Transformer foundation and oil pit design and drawings are very important component of Substation design. Transformers are large volume of oil containing equipment. Hence oil leakage / burst under abnormal operating conditions may create a fire hazard if the flammable transformer oil spreads in the switchyard. To effect loss prevention, oil must be contained in an oil pit below the transformer and safely drained away to a separate oil tank.
